Reflectology of a Fragmented Toenail

This is an excerpt from the introduction to an exciting new project which started last night.

"... this trivial act of creating black lines meeting and separating each other in various angles, lining up on a shiny screen in front me as it reflects the lamplight and quivers from the pressure of my fingers typing.
…If I don’t press save, it’s never happened."

Don't judge it, yet.

a tango (pinot-noir) tastes like this

in a frenzy
pushing buttons to get balanced
equivocally spinning
distracted creations and the questions

un devoted, un recruited
just words floating about
 taking turns
in putting you down

and then the basics
bare tastes lurking beneath
minimum remains
all particulars
all too flirtatious with her mistresses
                              and masters
                                        masculine
combating perceptions too prude to eat
prove she can
she will
she does
she fails
she can
she cannot can not

but the red nails : the difference
polished, bleeding, or bloodied?
there goes the difference

switched
on a frenzy.

the case for Prague

I’ve been obsessing about Prague. I need/want to go there in the summer. I will.
But seems like “it”'s been obsessing about me, too . . .
exhibit A) I found this book for $2,
exhibit B) A friend told me about a James Joyce conference in June, and even sent me a facebook invitation, “location: Prague”
exhibit C) Recently I found this guy (Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn) and not only learned some dark-magic history, but also learned about a certain secret café to hide in once I’m there,

exhibit D) And then there is Rilke,

Black Cat
A ghost, though invisible, still is like a place
your sight can knock on, echoing; but here
within this thick black pelt, your strongest gaze
will be absorbed and utterly disappear:
just as a raving madman, when nothing else
can ease him, charges into his dark night
howling, pounds on the padded wall, and feels
the rage being taken in and pacified.
She seems to hide all looks that have ever fallen
into her, so that, like an audience,
she can look them over, menacing and sullen,
and curl to sleep with them. But all at once
as if awakened, she turns her face to yours;
and with a shock, you see yourself, tiny,
inside the golden amber of her eyeballs
suspended, like a prehistoric fly.

"quiet little lady"

"you're a quiet little lady," my landlady said to me just now.
she's more like my roommate i guess. i'm renting a room in her extremely neat condo, with a view of the parliament, and on to her routines...

i guess i have been.

i'd like to blame the cold condo, or the spring weather, or lack of sleep and excess of work and alcohol, but (inhales), i have a cold (exhales).
which is perfect timing since i got a puzzle in Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum on sunday. not just any puzzle, it's Klimt's fregio de beethoven. and now i can sneaze and sniff while putting pieces of this painting, and my head, back together.

citizens of ott

when it gets busy, in your head and in your purse and on your desktop, you learn a lot about yourself.
who will you ignore? your mom, your ex-boyfriend, your disappointing best-friend?
who will you remember, or more importantly, miss?

and when you're busy, and on the bus in an alien city on unfamiliar routes (and perhaps even on the wrong bus), all that you were used to seem so trivial yet unequivocally a part of you.
you might remember the last time you felt like this ( seven years ago, Newton Brook High School?)

you get the picture. . .
